Winner: Avis Williams-McKoy, Nurse Consultant and Designated Nurse for Child Protection, NHS Lambeth CCG

Avis has worked as a midwife, health visitor and currently as the Children's Safeguarding Lead for Lambeth CCG. Impressively, Avis has specialised in the field of Child Protection and Safeguarding Children since 1995.

Avis has gone to great lengths to achieve improvements in children's lives and has impressive knowledge on all matters relating to the protection of children. Her passion to ensure children in Lambeth receive safe care shines through in her daily work. She shows a natural flair for working across agencies and with multi professional groups.

A nominator said: "She is an excellent role model for inspiring all nurses, but in particular Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) nurses that struggle to find inner confidence in themselves. As a clinical leader, she is inspirational and acts as a role model for clinical leadership in general and nursing leadership in particular."

The hard work Avis has put in in Lambeth has over the years yielded excellent results in ensuring our children remain safe and protected. This is her main priority.

We would like to say a huge thanks to Avis for the difference her work has made to children across the borough, as well as the kindess she has given to her colleagues.
