Worried about the family risks of Breast Cancer?

If the recent publicity following Angelina Jolie’s diagnosis of a BRCA gene fault has raised concerns about the risks to you, or the women in your family, then support is available locally from the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust.

On average about 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer. A small number of women, like Angelina Jolie, may have an increased risk of developing breast cancer because they have a significant family history of the disease.
This service is for people who may be concerned about their family history of breast and/or ovarian cancer. An appointment can be made to attend one of our clinics, that are held at various locations, for a risk assessment and screening recommendations.

Regardless of your family risks of the disease, all women should be regularly checking their breasts to look for any changes which should be discussed with your GP.

If you think that you may benefit from the service you can contact the service directly on 0207 188 1385 or email on cancerriskassessment@gstt.nhs.uk
