We are delighted that NHS Lambeth CCG has won a prestigious HSJ Value Award on 24 May for Improving the value of Primary Care Services. The award was given for the development of DataNet locally.

Through Lambeth DataNet, the patient medical records held by all GPs in Lambeth have been systematically developed, anonymised and combined into a single database for the borough. This enables detailed analysis of the borough population to identify groups who can be followed up for targeted health interventions based on prevalence and risk. Data security and patient confidentiality are protected through a specially designed data sharing agreement.

Judges said this was an excellent use of data to drive action to identify where health inequalities exist and what can be done to address them and improve outcomes.

Our particular thanks to the team who have driven this over many years including Dr Richard Williams, Dr Sarah Corlett, Dr John Balazs, Dr Hiten Dodhia, Dr Mark Ashworth, David Whitney and James Crompton.

We would also like to congratulate colleagues from Guys and St Thomas' Foundation Trust who also won the HSJ Value in Healthcare award for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
