New support for Lambeth Salaried and Locum GPs
Today, NHS Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group and the Lambeth LMC have launched support for the salaried GPs and Locums (collectively known as 'sessional GPs') who are the backbone of general practice in Lambeth. The support service is to help salaried and locum GPs to build a career, reduce the risk of burnout and to encourage more young doctors to remain and thrive in Lambeth.
For many, a career as a sessional GP is an ideal way to control workload and build a portfolio career; which could include becoming a Clinical Lead, being on the CCG Governing Body or on the LMC. We want to support this becoming a reality for Lambeth GPs.
The service has information for sessional GPs on support group meetings, a discussion forum, useful articles and links to resources. All sessional GPs in Lambeth will also receive an invitation to join a discussion forum on MedCrowd from Dr Martin Godfrey, a GP and Governing Body member of our CCG.
Dr Godfrey said, "we're delighted to be able to offer this support to salaried and locum GPs in Lambeth. Sessional GPs are invaluable to maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of our community and without them, much of the heavy lifting, the daily churn of day to day clinical and organisational activity, would not get done in most busy surgeries.
Dr Jarrett, Chair Lambeth LMC said: "We hope that these resources from the Lambeth CCG and LMC, will help to support sessional GPs throughout the borough to develop and excel in Lambeth."
