‚ÄčNew Chair announced for South East London Integrated Care System

NHS England and Improvement has today announced that Richard Douglas CB has been appointed non-executive chair of South East London Integrated Care System (ICS).  This was part of a London-wide announcement of each of the five ICS / STP non-executive chairs in the capital.

Richard has worked across the Department of Health and NHS. During his time at NHS England and Improvement he has worked in non-executive roles and in both phases of his career he chaired executive committees and board committees to facilitate system coordination at a national level. Most recently he has held the position of Associate Non-Executive Director at NHS England.

This new role will oversee and ensure we enhance our partnership, leading the way to better health, care and wellbeing for south east Londoners.

Commenting on the announcement, Andrew Bland, Senior Responsible Officer for South East London ICS said: "Richard is an outstanding leader and public servant and I am sure that you will want to join me in congratulating him on his appointment. This new role will strengthen how we continue to work together, across our organisations, to transform services and bring greater benefits for the residents of our six boroughs.

Richard Douglas, Non-Executive Chair of South East London ICS said: "I am delighted to take up this new role and relish the opportunities it provides for working with colleagues in the NHS and local government to make real and lasting improvements in health and care for the people of south east London."

The South East London ICS brings together local health and care organisations and local councils to re-design care and improve population health, through shared leadership and collective action. The aims of South East London ICS will build on the collaboration of the partners to date through Our Healthier South East London, to integrate local services and help people stay well for longer by supporting them to lead healthier lives, manage their own health conditions and provide good access to care when they need it, often closer to where they live.
