Creating local health leaders
Our primary care development programme received a very positive evaluation in a report which emphasised the programme’s significant outcomes; including the formation of strong GP federations, general practice engagement in wider system integration, and successful delivery of 8am-8pm, seven-day primary care access in Lambeth and Southwark.
We ran the two-year programme jointly with NHS Southwark CCG from 2014, funded by a £1.2 million grant from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity.
Twenty-six GPs and practice managers took part in the challenging and intensive process of leadership development and found new skills which enabled them to lead practices through a process of significant change. The programme created the collective leadership capacity so that general practice can contribute confidently to the development of new ways of working alongside other partners within the local care system.
