Back to news

Thank you to all who attended our event on 22 June.

The event was well attended and we are grateful to all who were able to attend and raise their questions about future health plans in Lambeth to local health leaders.

A full report of all six public events across south east London will be published on Our Healthier South East London's website in the coming weeks.

You can also register your interest in the plans for South East London on Our Healthier South East London's website here.

Our healthier Lambeth event, 22 June, 4.30-7.30 pm at the Karibu Education Centre, Gresham Road.

The NHS is one of our most valued institutions. It belongs to us all - and a partnership of healthcare professionals, patients and local residents have come together to make sure that the NHS in the future is as good, sustainable and cherished as it is now and has been in the past.

Everyone knows that the NHS faces considerable pressures. In Lambeth, we have a growing population. Birth rates are rising, and people are also living longer. With increasing life expectancy come ailments of old age such as heart disease and arthritis.
Rather than this being a problem, it is a real opportunity for all our communities to come together and work out the best ways of helping our NHS to adapt and change to meet the increasing demand on services.

It is far better that we plan and shape this together according to the needs of our communities, rather than allow problems to build up and affect our services in the future.
We want as many of people as possible to come along, hear our thinking and discuss what this will mean for services in Lambeth.
The health and care issues we are looking at include, how we can improve community care and care outside hospital, how different parts of the health and care system can work better together to give people the care they need, how we can best meet the rising demand for services from a growing and ageing population and respond to the financial pressures this places on the NHS, and crucially, what more can we do to stop people becoming unwell.

How this event will work

urgent and emergency care - alternatives to A&E including GP hubs, out of hours doctors and pharmacy, apps and phone lines – Health Help Now and 111, rapid response schemes to keep frail older people and vulnerable young people out of hospital
services for families – better support for asthmatic children, wellbeing initiatives for young people and enhanced mental health support for pregnant women and new mothers
planned care - plans to improve quality of care and outcomes for people needing inpatient orthopaedic procedures
mental health services – ambitious plans to provide more effective community-based support, developing our Living Well Network and our Integrated Personalised Support Alliance, and the GP Plus scheme
