Lifetime Achievement Award

Winners: Dr Mike Kelleher [pictured 2nd from right] and Mick Collins [pictured 2nd from left], from the Lorraine Hewitt House Drug and Alcohol Service

Mick and Mike were nominated by Councillor Ed Davie. They have provided one of the best substance misuse services in the country at the Lorraine Hewitt House Drug and Alcohol Service. The service has virtually no waiting list and excellent outcomes.

This is a holistic service that is always respectful of the role of service users, residents and political representatives.  When they wanted to carry out an injectable opiates trial they asked the advice of councillors and local residents to create a model of good public sector consultation.

They supported Lambeth Council's scrutiny commission into Healthier High Streets with their own research into the frequency of off licences and problem drinking.

Service-users are involved in every part of the operation, providing the right language and cultural skills to reach traditionally under-served populations and integrated working with in-house social workers

Nationally addiction services are often a neglected and misunderstood area of service and Lambeth is lucky to benefit from the expertise and compassion of Mike and Mick.
