BIG Lambeth Health Debate

Over the summer months we were out and about engaging with hundreds of local people in the BIG Lambeth Health Debate.

We have been talking about:
  • How to improve the health of Lambeth people
  • How to improve the quality of health services
  • How to reduce inequalities in health
  • How to spend NHS money most wisely
  • A sustainable way of planning and paying for health services in the next five years and into the future
  • How can we better join up services and change our ways of working so that we are making best use of all our time and skills as patients, clinicians and other care providers?

We know that demand for healthcare is rising, cash is not: so we need to make choices between priorities; we need to do things differently.

We don’t have all the answers; we need to do this together.

We heard your ideas on:

Innovation: new ideas and new ways of working that will help us to improve health, provide high quality care and reduce inequalities without increasing spending
Productivity: making every pound we spend work harder to improve health, provide high quality care and reduce inequalities without increasing spending
Prevention: preventing ill health, intervening earlier when people become ill and supporting people to manage long-term health conditions.

At an engagement event on 18th October 2013 - we discussed some of the ideas you'd shared with us and considered how we can take those ideas forward.  You can read more about our discussions in the Making it happen presentation.

You can also read the full engagement report giving fuller details of what we heard during the debate.

Although this stage of the debate is over we would encourage all local people to get involved with their local NHS.  You can:

  • go to a patient group meeting at your GP practice  (ask them for details of the next meeting)
  • write to us: Lambeth CCG, 1 Lower Marsh, SE1 7NT
  • follow us on Twitter @nhslambethccg - just click the Twitter button below.
