bowel cancer.jpgAre your patients aware of bowel cancer screening?
In Lambeth we have a low uptake of bowel cancer screening compared with other London boroughs, particularly in men, people born outside of the UK, ethnic minorities and people from socioeconomically deprived areas.

Following on from the cancer PLT, the Lambeth bowel cancer screening pathway is now live on DXS. Remind yourself of the bowel cancer screening pathway and find embedded forms and links, such as:
  • Example reminder letter to send to patients
  • GP request form for new screening kit to be sent to patient
  • Links to:
    • Test kit instruction leaflets in 21 languages
    • Instruction video
    • Good Practice Screening Guide for GPs

We encourage practices to activate the EMIS pop-up alert for bowel cancer screening non-response, to enable opportunistic discussion by all members of the practice team. See instructions for activating the non-response bowel cancer screening pop-up here.

NB. Is your reception well-stocked with bowel cancer screening wallet cards with the test kit re-order number? Free to order from Cancer Research UK here.
