Following the update on 30 March 2016 regarding the introduction of the Pan London Suspected Cancer referral forms, the London Transforming Cancer Services team have an update about the delay of the launch.

Update: 31 March 2016

Unfortunately the launch of the new forms has been delayed by two to three weeks due to an issue with the website which will host the forms and supporting database and referral guides. It is important that the hosting website is a permanent and sustainable solution and this issue has arisen due to recent organisational changes affecting cancer services in London.

The new forms, guides and support materials have been tested and are ready for launch but they cannot be used without live links to the background databases which contain the contact details for each trust and referral guides.

We understand that each trust, CCG and GP practice have been working towards a launch date of 31 March 2016 and we appreciate all the work that has been undertaken locally to facilitate this. None of this preparation has been in vain and the forms will be launched as soon as the permanent hosting arrangements have been finalised and tested.

The new electronic referral forms will be available on EmisWeb, SystmOne, Vision and DXS. GPs in all CCGs in the London area are advised to use these forms when referring patients with a suspected cancer as they contain the updated guidelines from NICE published in 2015 (NG12) as well as additional tumour specific referral criteria and deviations which have been agreed for the London area.

Phased Introduction

There will be a phased introduction of the new forms depending on your patient record software and your CCG. To ensure the referral forms are introduced in a carefully managed way and so we are aware of and can respond to any issues, we plan to phase the roll out as follows:

EmisWeb practices: The web link and installation guide will be sent to you within the next 2-3 weeks so that your practice manager can upload the forms to your practice system.

SystmOne in Central London, West London, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow and Ealing CCGs: The Trust wide publishing group will host the templates centrally and practices can contact their local Service Desk for access. They will be available for use shortly and you will be notified by your CCG IT/Cancer lead.

SystmOne practices in Waltham Forest and West Essex CCGs: The web link and installation guide will be sent to you within the next 2-3 weeks so that your practice manager can upload the forms to your practice system.

Vision practices: The web link and installation guide will be sent to you within the next 2-3 weeks so that your practice manager can upload the forms to your practice system.

Lewisham, Greenwich, Bexley, Sutton and Islington CCGs: These CCGs have local arrangements in place where the new forms will either be hosted centrally or disseminated to practices by the CCG IT/Cancer lead, who will inform you when they are available within the next 2-3 weeks.

DXS practices: DXS forms will be uploaded centrally and available for use within the next 3-4 weeks; it takes up to 10 days for the forms to be made accessible to GPs once DXS have received them and we will notify you when they are live.

If you have any queries regarding upload or technical support please contact your CCG IT/Cancer Lead who will liaise and feedback to the Transforming Cancer Services Team where necessary.

London area CCGs, Cancer/GP leads and Macmillan GPs have worked alongside hospital specialists, pathway groups and patient representatives to develop the new forms. Our aim is to improve the pathways and referral procedures for patients with suspected cancer and we hope the introduction of these forms will be seen as a significant step forward.

We apologise for any inconvenience this short delay may cause; for further advice or information, see contact details below.

With many thanks for your support,
