New children’s asthma toolkit for GPs

Following testing with users across London, an online asthma toolkit has been launched to support GPs to improve care for children and young people with asthma in London.

The toolkit includes practical resources, information, advice and examples of good practice that can support GPs in London to make the small changes that can improve care.

It has been developed by Healthy London Partnership, a partnership between all 32 London Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), including Lambeth CCG, and NHS England (London region).

As well as GPs, the toolkit also includes specific sections for commissioners, pharmacists, schools, hospital staff and parents and carers of children and young people with asthma.

The toolkit also includes a specific section for parents and carers of children and young people with asthma, which explains what families should expect from asthma care in London, and provides self-care advice and links to further resources.

The toolkit can be found at.

More than 200,000 children and young people across London have asthma – that’s three children in every classroom - and twelve children and young people die as a result of asthma attacks each year in the capital.
