People's Choice Award
Winner: Deniece Campbell
Deniece is a carer for her young son who has autism. She is well known in Lambeth for her work advocating to improve the quality of life for children with special educational needs and disabilities, their parents and carers.
She supports a wide range of organisations, charities and contributes to a number of committees. Deniece has even set up her own support group and information hub for parents and carers.
Deniece also does a lot of work for the Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) community as well as hard to reach families, signposting them to useful information and updating them on what is going on in their local area. Nominees described Deniece as friendly, approachable and always willing to help.
We are so grateful to Deniece for all her work in Lambeth as a role model in many different areas. Her work has made a huge positive impact on some of Lambeth's most vulnerable people and their families.
Winner: Odette Haase, Health Care Assistant, The Corner Surgery
Odette was nominated by a number of patients and her colleagues for her fantastic work at The Corner Surger. She is passionate about helping people with long term conditions such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
She enjoys helping patients make positive changes in their lives. Odette works hard to educate people wherever the opportunity arises and can often be spotted out in the local community working with patients. You may have seen her checking the blood pressure of Lambeth residents at the annual Lambeth Country Show.
Odette was nominated multiple times and praised for her positive and enthusiastic approach with both patients and staff. Her caring and uplifting nature was highlighted as well as her efforts to ensure patients understood their conditions and felt empowered to take control of their own health.
We would like to thank Odette for always making her patients smile and giving them the confidence to manage aspects of their own health.
