Unpaid Carer of the Year Award
Winner: Sylvie Kone [pictured centre]
Sylvie was nominated by both Emmanuelle Le Gal and Wendy Pope
Sylvie is a carer for her teenage daughter with complex health needs and was a carer for her husband for many years, while still finding time to help out in her community, running both a community art project respite group and a community garden project.
One of the projects she is involved in in Vauxhall is called 'Just like us'. She got some funding for two sewing machines and got a donation of five more a bit later. She provides art supplies for the group members with her own money providing respite for carers and the people they care for.
Her nominators said, "Sylvie likes to give confidence to all and empower people, to make everyone feel good. She works tirelessly and is always cheery and diplomatic. I don't think she knows how much of an impact she has on many peoples' lives"
