Lifetime Achievement award nominee
Vishnu Sooboodoo, recently retired Manager at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust
"Vishnu worked for the NHS for 42 years before retiring in July 2016. For 38 years of his career he has worked in Lambeth.
Vishnu started training as a registered mental health nurse at Tooting Bec mental health hospital 1978-80 where he continued to work. Following reorganisation of health services in Lambeth, Vishnu took up the post of district nurse neighbourhood manager (Clapham Manor) within Lambeth healthcare (integrated mental health and community organisation).
After time working for SLAM as an information manager Vishnu returned to the community as the intermediate care manager at Pulross Intermediate Care Centre and Lambeth Community Care Centre.
He subsequently worked as the district nurse manager/service manager in Streatham and Vauxhall before finishing his career as Assistant General Manager.
During his 38 years working in Lambeth he has consistently delivered and developed high quality services for local people. His experience in mental as well as physical health meant that he was able to bring a holistic approach to care.
Staff who have worked with him report feeling valued and supported. He has always been flexible and willing to support his colleagues to ensure high quality care is maintained.
Patient care and experience has been improved through Vishnu’s openness and willing to listen to address concerns raised.
Vishnu remained committed to the people of Lambeth through many health care reorganisations and we feel that it is appropriate that this dedication is recognised through a Lifetime Achievement award."
