Wishing Lambeth nurse Judi Hughes a happy retirement

Judi.jpg

Judi Hughes (formerly Costello) is taking early retirement from Herne Hill Road Group Practice.   She has worked as a Practice Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in Lambeth  for 18 years. Prior to that she was a PN in Southwark for 6 years. Judi was part of the first cohort of ANPs at London Southbank University and graduated with a first class degree.

Judi ran our hugely successful Practice Nurse Forum for many years in Lambeth preventing isolation and promoting good clinical practice, and with the organisational change from PCT to CCG, Lambeth nurses found themselves without a nurse lead.  Judi informally became the "go to" for all nursing issues and  thanks to her insistence on the importance of strong leadership, our current nurse lead structure was developed with Judi taking responsibility for education, training and clinical supervision.

Lambeth has been fortunate to have someone of Judi's calibre in its employ. She is an excellent and highly regarded clinician who has always aimed to provide the highest standard of care to her varied patient population. This was recently recognised, when Judi was the runner up in South East London GP Nurse Conference: Nurse of the Year Award.

Judi is well loved by her nursing colleagues and we will all miss her energy and cheerful "can do" attitude. We wish her a happy move to Shropshire, a really good rest from the NHS and days spent exploring her new home and its environment.  She will be sorely missed by patients and staff alike and we wish her well for the future.
